Hello, Smart Women (and the men who love them!)

You are invited to submit articles, poetry, artwork, whatever to enhance this website, share your talents with the world and generally express yourself.  All rights to the material stay with you and the work should preferably be your original work. If you are submitting an interview of you written by another writer, that's fine. You just need to provide me that writer's contact information so I can confirm reprint permission.

For articles, I suggest that you write an article of 250-750 words on the topic of your choice. There are some categories already listed but you are welcome to submit alternative suggestions. I am going to be very flexible and open minded regarding topics. Word doc format is preferred or you can just cut and paste it into an email and I will take it from there.

The main requirement is that the article uplifts, educates, and enriches women's lives, and that you are willing to share it because you feel it would benefit other women to hear about your experiences. That is pretty open, I think, so I encourage you to find your passion and put a pen to it. I am confident what you have to say is important and desirable.

Once I get the article, I will review it for spelling and proper punctuation and such, but otherwise will post it as is. It's important to me that your voice stays intact and that it represents your heart's message, your point of view. We can arrange you to be a regular submitter if you'd like, as you're invited and encouraged to be as active as you desire on the site. Again, all rights to the article remain with you and you can publish it anywhere else you wish.

One of the goals of my website is to allow women to get to know other women around the world, so I need you to be sure that you include a resource box that will appear after your article. Basically, a small bio with your name, your website (or email or phone...all, any, or none), recent picture, and what you do and what you enjoy in life. Keep it relatively short and focused---just a few sentences. If you need help, email me with your phone number provided and we can work on a blurb for you together.

If you would like a customized webpage on the site, I am offering any writers or participants a one-page write up (where their bio and picture will be, all their articles posted together, products/services they offer, etc.) for a one-time fee of $25. I will automatically be updating your additional article submissions for no additional charge. For $5 per update, I can also make any other changes you need (most women do that monthly or quarterly). It's really just an opportunity to give women a web presence and somewhere to showcase their work without too much hassle or cost. If you already have your own website, I am happy to link to it within your resource box. It's really up to you. You will get the same welcoming whether you purchase a webpage from me or already have one. The idea is to get you out there sharing with others.

We can also post your article to my blog so you can have a conversation with the Smart Woman community about your point of view. It's a lot of fun and can really give you something to think about and be inspired about! The idea is to promote yourself, express yourself, and share.

On Writing Poetry: My mother was an amateur artist who specialized in portraits. In spite of the fact that her art teacher told her she had too much talent for commercial art, she said she thought she would have been happy as a commercial artist. She never pursued "serious" art, a field which is notoriously hard to break into.
